Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland Oscar’s win censored in China

During her Oscar's acceptance speech, Director of Nomadland, Chloe Zhao, referred to her Chinese roots by reciting a classical Chinese phrase that means “people at birth are inherently good”. But Zhao’s expression has not saved her from being censored on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site, where users say mentions of Zhao and her Oscar win are being erased at a rapid pace.
