The Centre for Corporate Public Affairs is committed to protecting your privacy in-line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and the Australian Privacy Principles. A copy of the Australian Privacy Principles may be obtained from the website of The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. This policy explains our procedures relating to the collection, management and use of your personal information. Any reference to “we,” “us,” “our,” or “this site” is a reference to the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs.

1. Personal information

    When submitting information to us, we may collect personal information from you. In this context, the Personal Information we collect includes: your name, address, email address and phone number.

    The way in which we may collect this personal information includes (but not limited to):

    • Via our website;
    • Event registrations;
    • Membership applications;
    • Database updates;
    • Interviews;
    • Correspondence (via telephone, email or otherwise); and
    • From publicly available sources and/or third parties.

     We don’t guarantee the website links or policy of authorised third parties.

    When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, identify why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it. Personal Information collected from you, such as e-mail address, name, address and telephone number, will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected.

    We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you and your Member employing entity, providing information to our clients, and/or marketing. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes subsequent to the abovementioned primary purposes, and/or in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. This includes providing access to your corporate public affairs Head of Function to the Centre executive education and events you have completed/attended as part of their planning for your professional development, and the development of the corporate public affairs management function in your organisation.

    You may unsubscribe from our mailing or marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.

    2. Third Parties

        Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such circumstances, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

        3. Disclosure of Personal Information

          Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including (but not limited to) the following:

          • Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure;
          • To employers of those who have completed an educational course, and to recruitment verification companies – this could include the fact that you are a Centre member, or details of the Centre’s executive education programs you have completed; and
          • Where required or authorised by law.

          We will not give, sell, trade, rent or otherwise provide your personal information to any other third party organisation, except where you have consented to this, or where it is reasonable to do so in the provision of services to you, or where the law requires us to do so. In addition, we do not publish personal information collected through this website, unless you provide express permission to do so.

          4. Events

            We disclose the name, job title and company details of event participants to speakers or facilitators under strict conditions, to enable them to carry out their role in relation to an event.

            If you give us personal information about any other individuals (e.g. guests attending the Oration, Heads of Function Dinner or other event) we ask that you tell the individual that you have done so and make them aware of this Privacy Policy.

            Recording of events:

            • Some events will be recorded. This enables us to improve future events and use this material for promotional purposes. Participants are given an opportunity (via our registration forms) to indicate if they do not want us to use their voice, image, or likeness.

            5. Security of Personal Information

            Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and/or loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

            When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information.

            Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

            6. Access to Personal Information

              You may submit a request to access the Personal Information we hold about you and/or to update and/or correct it (subject to certain exceptions). If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

              The Centre for Corporate Public Affairs will not charge any fee for your access request. However, to protect your Personal Information, we may require proof of identity or verification from you before releasing the requested information.

              7. Maintaining the Quality of Personal Information

                It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is current, accurate, and complete. If you find that the information we have is outdated and/or inaccurate, please contact us as soon as practicable so we can update our records.

                8. Policy Updates

                  The Centre for Corporate Public Affairs reserves the right to update or change the Privacy Policy. If we do, an updated version will be available on our website.
