As a lawyer and in business, Jeffrey D. Grant's philosophy was “Win, win, win.” However, Grant found his life unravelling; filching money from clients as his debts mounted; getting disbarred from law; attempting suicide by swallowing 40 tablets of Demerol; and in 2004, this culminated into a prison sentence of 18 months for wire fraud and money laundering.
