The 2012 State of Australian Public Affairs series: A snapshot of activities relating to corporate responsiblity

The Centre’s 2012 State of Australian Public Affairs research found that activities related to corporate responsibility are integrated into 65 per cent of Australian public affairs functions.

The most common of these activities include business and community partnerships (67%), community sponsorship (60%) and community consultation or dialogue forums (58%).

Enhanced corporate reputation is the primary stated goal for respondent organisation’s corporate responsibility efforts (84%), followed by improved community relationships (75%) and increased employee morale, engagement and teamwork (69%).

Our research found that almost 75 per cent of respondent organisations published information relating to their sustainability or corporate responsibility activities.

While there are still pockets of stand-alone reporting on subject areas such as environment, corporate community investment, occupational health and safety and product responsibility, by far reporting efforts are combined into a corporate responsibility report or annual report.
