This module will examine why leading corporations and organisations are shifting considerable management time and resources to identify and empower advocates for their strategy and issues. 

What is best practice in identifying, preparing, and enabling advocates for your organisation to get involved to influence the issues, public policy, transformational change, and discourse that is important to your entity and its strategy? This Centre executive education module will provide the answers.

The module  will be led by Centre Executive Director Wayne Burns with contributions from Guest Faculty Kellie Lennon, Group Manager Marketing, Communications & Engagement, South East Water, and Jamie Nicholson, Corporate Affairs Manager, Roche Products.

The agenda will focus on:

  • Why leading corporations and organisations are shifting considerable management time and resources to identify and empower advocates for their strategy and issues.
  • Processes and tools to engage and support advocates will be identified and dissected.
  • Best practice advocacy approaches, strategy, and tactics in organisations in Australia, Asia Pacific, and globally will be identified and unpicked. We will also discuss best practice case studies Australian and international organisations.
  • The New Wave: global trends and developments in corporate advocacy. What does good and best practice look like? What are the business drivers? How public advocacy intersects with all of the disciplines in corporate public affairs. Good practice in how organisations are identifying and engaging advocates;
  • Outside in and Inside out: engaging and arming employees as organisational advocates; and engaging and arming external stakeholders as advocates.

    Senior and mid-level corporate public affairs practitioners with accountability for advocacy in issues management, reputation stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and crisis management are encouraged to register for this executive education module.


    The module (delivered every two years only)  comprises ten credit points (10) of the 40 points required over 36 months for practitioners to achieve/maintain their certification as a Graduate of the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs (GCCPA).
